An emergency kit includes items that will be useful in the
event of a disaster. Bring it with you if you must leave and
go to a public shelter or to the house of a family member
for a few days.
A strong backpack, a gym bag or a suitcase will be useful
to store and carry the emergency kit.
Items to Put in Your Emergency Kit:
- a warm sweater;
- woollen socks;
- pants;
- shorts;
- a T-shirt;
- spare socks and underwear;
- a sleeping bag and a thick blanket;
- hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, towelette, soap,
shampoo, etc.);
- a towel;
- flashlight and batteries;
- extra batteries;
- personal documents (health-insurance card, healthy notebook,
etc.);
- water bottles and canned juice;
- dry food (compressed food bars, cookies, dry fruits, etc.);
- games that do not require electricity (playing cards,
board games, puzzles, etc.);
- paper;
- pens;
- an item that you like very much (game, photo, etc.);
- a book;
- a whistle (three short whistles are the international
distress signal).
Store your emergency kit in a convenient place. Replace dry
food, water and juice bottle every year at the beginning of
school.
